OK, so the ever-fabulous Ulli tagged me with an "8 random things about me" meme, and what can I do but follow the German siren call? I mean, we already have a lot in common, being German and all, like walking around in the nude at home and not really caring who lays eyes on various exposed body parts. So there. Here is now this works:Each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.
And here we go:
1. I love nailpolish, especially on my toes. When my toenails aren't polished, I feel frumpy and unkempt--no matter whether my hair has gone without shampooing for two or three days. It's all about the pretty tootsies. This is also why I have a rainbow of pinks and reds and purples in little bottles at home (all from cruelty-free companies, of course), which, technically, isn't a rainbow unless you add the green and the blue in. I even have a bottle of gold, which I used for my graduation pedicure (school colors: gold-blue-gold-blue-gold-blue ... you get the idea).
2. I am addicted to the Steve Ross yoga show on Oxygen called "Inhale." So what if it's on at 6 in the morning? Yes, there can be sleep after yoga. And as long as I talk about exercise: I miss the spin classes I used to go to. The corporate gym in Sunnyvale doesn't have anything remotely like them. Which sucks.
3. I'm a flaming Liberal. I'm a Christian. I'm pro-choice. I am no longer opposed to becoming pregnant, if that should be the case, and I wish women in dire circumstances had better alternatives available than abortion. Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself. I am large; I contain multitudes (three brownie points for you if you can guess where the last sentence came from WITHOUT GOOGLING IT).
4. I inherited the big "worry crease" on my forehead from Grandma. While I love my grandma, I am not so sure about this big old honkin' wrinkle, which looks like the tectonic shifts in my face have produced another Grand Canyon, and have considered Botox/ Restylane. On the other hand, I'll take the independent, kickass attitude that comes with this wrinkle any time.
5. My dream is still to build a school with an enginnering lab for girls in Africa. That hasn't changed since I was little (and I mean "littler than now").
6. I love Trader Joe's brown rice California roll. It's high in fiber, low in fat, cooked, and gives me a piece of fake crab and some carrots, both of which I love. When I'm travelling for business (about 75% of the time these days), I have four pieces for breakfast because the wasabi wakes me up and 4 pieces for dinner, without the wasabi. In fact, I am chewing on it as I type this. And running for a glass of water.
7. I am getting married on September 23 in a hot air balloon over Santa Rosa, CA, to a pretty darn awesome guy who still leaves me cute voicemail messages every day when I'm not at home and loves on my four cats. I'm hoping I won't turn into a bridezilla, and being the anal organizer that I am, I have a plan and a spreadsheet and nothing, NOTHING can go wrong (yeah, right!). And if I do indeed lose the poundage I want to lose before the event, I might even get to go shopping for a new dress ...
8. The most random thing about my life presently is my career. On the upside, I have one more class to go towards my Graduate Certificate in System Engineering (halfway to the M.S. degree), and I received the application to graduate in the mail yesterday. But since this last class is a math/ statistics class, we'll have to see if I do, indeed, graduate. And then, I will dream of being done with pimping my soul out to engineering one day and instead become a psychologist. Or an immigration lawyer. Or a writer/ artist/ photographer. Anything but engineering.
Wow, it's been pretty hard to find eight random things about me, considering that my life is pretty well planned out right now. But here comes the really fun part in which I get to tag eight more people. Sooooo ... I'm tagging
- Stephanie because her blog made me keep the chocolate in my diet plan
- Jenipurr because she's been one of the people I've known longest in this country
- Hugo, one of my blog celebrity crushes who I expect is far too busy to respond
- Danny because he's going to make this ueber-funny
- Grace because I love her writing and her photography
- Jessamyn, another one of my blog celebrity crushes who's probably too busy to respond
- You and you out there, because I know you've got something interesting to say.
